In the far future a new age of industry has begun. Invest in companies, trade their shares, and grow your net-worth.

Investellar is a simple highscore game you can play when you have a couple minutes to spare, and don't want to play something too mentally taxing but still want some strategy. That's how I play it, and since I thought it was fun now you can play it too.

How To Play

Only read this if you get confused while playing, just try the game first

Basics:

There are 512 companies, separated into 32 industries of 16 companies each. The game lasts 128 years in standard "Lifetime" mode. Press the continue button to advance the year. The game starts at 3205, and ends at 3333. Your goal is to have the highest net-worth at the end of the 128 years.

Gameplay:

The main way you increase your net-worth is trading and investing.

Trading lets you slowly grow your credits by buying shares and selling them at a higher value. It is inherently active, and with some risk. 

Investing lets you consistently grow your credits passively while you trade. Investing is without risk because you always know exactly what you will get, but investments are inflexible meaning investments you made previously will continue to lose relevance as later investments are more valuable.

Because of fees on trading and shareholding it is best to do buying and selling in small amounts. Up to 10 shares at a time is reasonably cheap, but going higher is progressively more expensive due to fees. So be sure to invest in companies which grow the fastest.

By investing you help a company grow, and they pay you in dividends for your help. If you own less than 60 shares your dividends are 1\10th the amount you invested. If you have between 60 and 99 the amount is significantly more, and even more if you own all 100 shares.

The bank is part of neither of these systems. It serves two purposes: convenience and reward. It allows you to instantly double your credits at the expense of gaining debt by taking a loan. Loans allow you to buy things just out of your budget, but the debt they incur grows with interest each year. You pay for convenience. The bond serves as a reward for efficient growth. The faster you gain the credits to buy the bond, the larger it will be later. It doubles a percentage of your credits, adding the value to your assets at the end of the game. The percentage it doubles grows by 0.5 each year, so buy it as soon as you can.

Scoring:

The score is composed of 3 parts: credits, debt, and assets. Credits and debt are self explanatory. Assets is the total of the value of every share you own, the dividends every company pays you in one year, if any, and the bond if you bought it. Your net-worth is everything added up.
